St. Louis Hair Restoration is excited to count local radio host and former sports anchor Doug Vaughn among our satisfied patients. Doug arrived with a receding hairline and unmistakable sense of humor, and he left with results that made him say, “Wow!” Doug’s only regret? Not coming in sooner!
FUE Hair Transplant: Turning Back The Clock
When Doug visited our offices, he underwent an FUE hair transplant for his receding hairline. FUE stands for follicular unit extraction, and it involves moving hair follicles from one part of the body to another.
Doug’s entire FUE procedure lasted only a few hours, and he experienced no pain. In his own words, “In about three and a half hours, Dr. Pawlinga reversed about four decades of the hair thinning process… I think my hairline might look better at my funeral than it did at my high school graduation!”
What Is An FUE Transplant?
FUE transplant procedures are surgical procedures where individual hair follicles are relocated from the back of the scalp and transplanted to the thinning area to increase the density and make your hair thicker and fuller. FUE differs from FUT (follicular unit transplantation) as it does not require a scalpel or sutures and does not leave patients with a linear scar.
People with thinning hair or balding who still have enough donor hair for a transplant make ideal candidates for FUE transplants. If you’re wondering whether you’re eligible for an FUE procedure, give our team a call today!
FUE Hair Transplants: The Procedure
The FUE hair transplant procedure works like this:
- Your surgeon will develop a plan for where the follicles will be removed, and where the follicles will be transplanted.
- The donor hair is removed using a micropunch.
- Micro incisions are made to receive the new follicles.
- Follicles are transplanted into the tiny incisions.
- You can now be cleaned and bandaged for recovery!
